Sub:- Import policy of 1-Bromo-3-Chloro Propane
- Representations have been received in this office seeking clarification regarding the ITC (HS) Code No. and import policy of the item 1-Bromo-3-Chloro Propane. There is no specific ITC (HS) Code provided for this item in the classification.
- The matter has been examined in consultation with Department of Chemicals & Petrochemicals and Ministry of Environment & Forests (Ozone Cell). Accordingly, it is clarified that the item, 1-Bromo-3-Chloro Propane shall be classified under Exim Code No.29034490 (Others).
- The items classified under ITC (HS) Code No.29034490 are restricted for imports and subject to the following condition:-
“Import is permitted by actual users against a licence from a country which is a party to the “Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer”. List of the countries which are parties to the Montreal Protocol will be notified by Director General of Foreign Trade from time to time. However, import from countries, which are not parties to the Montreal Protocol is prohibited”.
- In case of 1-Bromo-3-Chloro Propane, Ministry of Environment & Forests, Ozone Cell has clarified that this item is not listed in the Ozone Depleting Substances List of Montreal Protocol. Accordingly, import of this item may be considered free.
This issues with the approval of competent authority.
