Torrent pharma commences operations at Dahej plant |
AHMEDABAD: Torrent Pharmaceuticals Ltd on Thursday commenced commercial operations at its new plant in Dahej in Bharuch. The facility is being set up in two phases with investment in the first phase of over Rs 650 crore.
This is company's fifth formulation plant and the second API plant. The new plant situated in Dahej SEZ is spread across 70 acres with a built up area of around 97,000 sq mt. The phase 1 will have an installed capacity of about 7,500 million tablets and capsules and 25 metric tonnes (MT) API per annum.
The plant will cater mainly to the more regulated international markets such as US, Brazil and Germany among others and is already approved or under approval by regulatory authorities of these countries.
The construction of phase 2 will commence soon and once commissioned, the total capacity will increase to about 14,000 million tablets and capsules and 80 MT API per annum.
