Subject: IT firms in Hyderabad to add 1 lakh jobs in 3 yrs
Select IT companies in Hyderabad will create about 1,00,000 additional employment in two to three years in their campuses that are in the periphery of the Hyderabad. This will fuel a demand for housing facilities in these areas due to the multiplier effect-one direct job will have a multiplier effect to create four indirect jobs.

According to minister for information technology and communications Ponnala Lakshmaiah, IT major Infosys is likely to add about 45,000 additionally at its Pocharam campus. Right now, about 8,900 are employed here, he said.

The Infy campus is on the eastern side of the city, which so far has seen only a few companies move here.

Likewise, TCS, which is constructing a huge campus at Adibhatla, where Tatas have already set up a helicopter cabin making unit in a joint venture with Sikorsky. This campus, said to be in about 75 acre, will be the biggest TCS campus here. According to the minister, TCS has plans to have 25,000 working there in two years.

Also, Wipro has plans to add 12,000 people to the existing workforce, he said adding ecommerce player Amazon, which has about 4,000 people working in Hyderabad, has agreed to increase its employee base by 5,000 in two years and later to 13500 in phases.

This would translate to indirect employment to over 63,000 people, the minister said. Amazon has proposed to set up 1.6m sqft campus at Nanakramguda SEZ in Hyderabad. This would cater to software development and non-technical areas like support and back office operations.

Google India Development Center too is charting a growth plan in line with the growth of the internet industry. It currently has over 7,500 professionals in Hyderabad centre.

“The political disturbances in the state do not have any impact on the brand Hyderabad and MNCs continue to come here,” he said adding that Andhra Pradesh has brought IT services under emergency services to give protection. Also, it has been working to provide uninterrupted power supply to IT companies, said Ponnala.
