INDORE: Information technology major, Infosys, has received a notification for its proposed special economic zone (SEZ) in Super Corridor area of Indore. The notification was issued by Union ministry of commerce and industry.
However, the notification is yet to find mention in the gazette and it was likely to happen within a week's time, said a source familiar with the development.
In case of TCS, it will take few more days for getting the notification, he said.
Confirming the development, regional manager (R&A), Infosys, NP Mishra, told ToI, "Now as we have received the notification for getting the
SEZ status for our project in Indore, the process for setting up our project will start next month. We will begin with registration of the land which will be followed by completion of other formalities, before we begin the actual construction of the site."
The company will be developing the SEZ in a 130 acre area and is likely to be operational within 4-5 years. The company has already expressed its wish for having 20,000 sqft area in Crystal IT Park for having its city office.
Meanwhile, another IT firm, Impetus, has got the gazette notification for its SEZ project in the Badiyakima village in Indore, measuring 10 hectare. The firm is already having its presence at Crystal IT Park.
Vice president, Impetus, Sanjeev Agrawal, said, "It's the first step towards setting up our own campus. We hope to begin the construction of the site in 6 to 8 months. It is likely to become operational within three years and will be employing nearly 2,500 people."
However, the state government believes that TCS will start its work prior to Infosys, despite the latter's getting SEZ niotification first. Talking to ToI, state's industry and IT minister, Kailash Vijayvargiya, said, "We are planning to conduct Bhumipujan for TCS next month. In case of Infosys, it will take some more time."
