Subject: Indore: PM's 'Make in India' gets thumbs up from experts
Experts at a panel discussion organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) in Indore expressed confidence that the ‘Make in India’ initiative launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday will change the business dynamics for the manufacturing sector in the country. The session included live broadcast of the launch of 'Make in India' by the Prime Minister.

Experts said the initiative to ease procedures and welcome investment into the sector had been taken at the right time. It will generate employment for the large pool of young people joining the labour force every year. As mentioned by the Prime Minister, the purchasing power of the people can be enhanced and demand created only if they have employment opportunities, experts said.

The session was initiated by Praveen Agrawal, chairman of CII Malwa zonal council. Audyogik Kendra Vikas Nigam (AKVN), Indore, managing director Manish Singh gave a brief about the campaign on behalf of the state government.

Taking part in the panel discussion after the event, IIM Indore director Rishikesha T Krishnan said that he was expecting more details of what exactly the government has in mind. "The most important step is the implementation part. We also need to create confidence within the government, as the procedure is so complex that nobody gets the job done. Also, Prime Minister’s vision of Digital India needs to be comprehensive Digital India without any glitches," he said.

Indore SEZ development commissioner, A K Rathore, appreciated the roadmap laid down by the Prime Minister during his speech. He also stressed on the point that investors are not looking for incentives but only for a friendly business environment.

Former chairman of CII Madhya Pradesh chapter Ranjan Mimani said that it was important that Prime Minister’s vision gets percolated down to bureaucracy.

Tata International’s N Mohan, past chairman of CII western region, Praveen Toshniwal and Kirloskar Brothers’ Subodh Shrivastava were also part of the panel discussion. Vice chairman of CII Malwa zonal council, C P Gupta, proposed a vote of thanks.
