'Government keen to set up second medical device industrial park at Mihan' |
NAGPUR: Union Minister Nitin Gadkari today said the government is "absolutely serious" about setting up the country's second exclusive medical device industrial park at Mihan SEZ here.
The minister stated the same and asked the Association of Indian Medical Device Industry (AIMED) to work out the details and other modalities of the project on a priority basis after their delegation called on him here, an AIMED release here said.
AIMED Coordinator Rajiv Nath and other representatives discussed the possibility of setting up of the country's second proposed exclusive medical device park at Mihan.
The release stated that the minister was apprised about the huge import substitution potential, to the tune of Rs 23,000 crore, and even greater potential of exports and preliminary viability.
Gadkari consulted Minister of State for Chemicals and Fertilisers, Hansraj Ahir and asked AIMED to submit a note on the requisites needed to draft a national policy to boost domestic manufacturing of medical devices, it said.
Country's first proposed medical device park is coming up in Andhra Pradesh.
AIMED has suggested allocation of 200 acres within Mihan SEZ or area adjoining it for the project.
