Indore, (PTI) With the global demand picking up, the exports from the India's first greenfield operational Special Economic Zone (SEZ) here has climbed to Rs 565 crore in the first six months of the current financial year, a top official has said. The SEZ's export was Rs 186 crore due to global economic slowdown between this period during last year financial year. The SEZ's total turnover in the first six months of 2010-11 has touched Rs 816 crore, which was 200 per cent higher to what it was during the same period during the last financial year, Indore
SEZ Development Commissioner A K Rathore said. "In the SEZ spread over an area of 1,100 hectares, an investment of Rs 2,200 crore has taken place," Rathore said. He said that 30 units were operational in SEZ and 10 more units were coming up. Besides, proposals to set up five new units in the SEZ has been cleared, Rathore sadi adding around 11,000 people are working in different units running in the SEZ.
