The Board of Approval of the Special Economic Zones (SEZs) has recommended grant of ten formal approvals and one in-principal approval in its recently concluded meeting.
The proposals which received formal approvals are:
• M/s. Poornimadevi Tech Park Private Limited, Sulikere Village, Kengari Hobli, Bangalore South Taluk, Bangalore, Karnataka under IT/ITES category.
• M/s. Lepakshi Knowledge Hub Private Limited, Chillamaturu and Gorantla Mandal, Ananthapur District, Andhra Pradesh under Biotechnology category.
• M/s. Lepakshi Knowledge Hub Private Limited, Chillamaturu and Gorantla Mandal, Ananthapur District, Andhra Pradesh under Aerospace & Precision Engineering category.
• M/s. Lepakshi Knowledge Hub Private Limited, Chillamaturu and Gorantla Mandal, Ananthapur District, Andhra Pradesh under FTWZ.
• M/s. Gopalan E-Park, Village Koorgalli, Itwala, Hobli, Mysore District, Karnataka under Electronic Hardware and Software including ITES category.
• M/s. Suryo Infra Projects Private Limited, Mouza – Tulasideipur, Chandaka, Bhubaneswar, Orissa under IT/ITES category.
• M/s. Infosys Technologies Limited, Sarjapur Village & Billapur Village, Anekal Taluk, Bangalore, Karnataka under Information Technology (IT) category.
• M/s. Wipro Limited, Kodathi Village, Varthur Hobli, Sarjapur Road, Bangalore under IT/ITES category.
• M/s. Wipro Limited, Belagola Industrial Area, Mogarhalli Village, Belagola Hobli, Srirangapatna Taluk, Mandya district, Mysore, Karnataka under IT/ITES category.
• M/s. Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT), Navi Mumbai, Mumbai, Maharashtra under Ø Port Based
SEZ category.
The projects which received In-Principle Approval are:
• M/s. Vivimed Labs Limited, Boyapalem, Naruva & Chittivalasa Villages, Ranasthalam Mandal, Srikakulam District, Andhra Pradesh under Chemicals & Pharmaceuticals (Bulk/APIs/Formulations) category.
Addressing the Board of Approval members, the Chairman informed that so far 577 formal approvals have been granted for setting up of SEZs out of which 363 have been notified. He further said that over Rs1,66,526 crore have been invested in the Special Economic Zones and direct employment of the order of 5,50,323 persons has been generated in the Special Economic Zones. During the financial year 2009-10, total exports of Rs2,20,711 crore has been made from SEZs. The exports in the first quarter of financial year 2010-11 has been to the tune of Rs58,685.46 crore, registering a growth of 68% over the exports of corresponding period of the previous financial year.
