Prithviraj Chavan To Meet Manmohan Singh, Seeks Waiver Of Import Duty On Sugar |
Maharashtra chief minister Prithviraj Chavan today said that he will meet Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in Delhi tommorrow, to seek waiver of import duty on sugar and permission for export of cotton bales and yarn.
Chavan will be accompanied by deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar, co-operation minister Harshvardhan Patil and agriculture minister Radhakrishna Vikhe-Patil.
He said apart from the prime minister, he will also meet senior Union ministers, including defence minister AK Antony.
"Issues of waiving off import duty on sugar and creation of a buffer stock, and also permission for export of cotton and yarn, will be discussed," he said.
The chief minister said he would discuss setting up of defence production units in the state with Antony.
