The government has imposed anti-dumping duty of up to USD 11.38 per kg per on imports of viscose rayon filament yarn to guard the domestic industry from cheap Chinese shipments.@
After concluding that imports from China and Vietnam are taking place at dumped prices which have caused material injury to the domestic industry, the Directorate General of Anti-Dumping and Allied Duties (DGAD) had recommended anti- dumping duty on the yarn.
The duty would be ranged between USD 4.72 per kg and USD 11.38 per kg, the finance ministry said in a notification.
Earlier, the government had imposed duty on several other products, including yarns, fabrics, colour picture tubes, some aluminum products and chemicals.
China has emerged as the largest source of India's imports in the last two years. India's imports from China almost doubled to 24.16 billion dollar in April-December 2008-09.
