India's containerized shredded scrap import prices edge up to $402 a ton in the week ending June 27 |
MUMBAI : India's containerized shredded scrap import market edged up after a two week of down trend. Prices for containerized shredded scrap imports to the Indian market rose last week, up by $2 a ton to $402 a ton. Domestic Indian HRC steel prices fell again on Monday, with TSI’s index at INR 42,640 a ton (delivered, Mumbai) continuing their downward trend since early March. Steelmakers face margin headwinds through rising rail freight, but hope the new Modi-led government will be sympathetic towards the steel minister’s intention to provide preferential credit terms to the industry and to create a ‘single-window mechanism’ to enable faster collaboration across government departments to approve new projects.
