Rupee surges 35 paise against US dollar to 54.33 |
Indian rupee gained against the greenback in morning trade on Wednesday. Rupee was up by 35 paise or 0.64% against USD to Rs 54.33 compared to previous close of 54.68 (09.23 a.m.).
ICICIdirect expects the US dollar to attract selling pressure on rallies against the INR. ''Utilise the highs in the USD/INR January contract to sell below 55.13 with 54.95/54.87 and a stop loss of 55.22,'' it says.
In the spot market, the Dollar Index decreased 0.45% to 79.37 (22:45 ET).
Euro - USD was trading at 1.32 up 0.61% while USD - Japanese Yen was trading at 87.22 up 0.60% (22:57 ET).
At 09.26 a.m., the Sensex was trading up 134.05 points or 0.68% at 19,714.86 with 30 components gaining. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading higher by 41.40 points or 0.70% at 5,992.25 with 50 components gaining.
