Rupee slips 13 paise against dollar in early trade |
Indian rupee opened 10 paise lower against the US dollar at 66.81 on Monday on account of buying of American currency by banks and importers. At 9.35 am, the local currency was trading nearly 13 paise down at 66.84 against the US dollar. Meanwhile, domestic equity markets opened on a positive note on Monday. The BSE Sensex opened 102 points up at 27673.60.
Rupee recovered its three-week low on Friday against the US currency to close up by 23 paise at 66.71 on heavy corporate dollar sales as well as easing inflationary pressure. According to dealers, better-than-expected consumer inflation data supported the recovery momentum on Friday. However, lackluster performance in domestic equities alongside a strong dollar overseas limited the rupee appreciation.
