Rupee Sheds 14 Paise Against U.S. Dollar |
The Indian rupee fell by 14 paise to Rs. 45.26 per U.S. dollar in early trade at the Interbank Foreign Exchange on Thursday on sustained demand for the American currency and dollar gains overseas.
The rupee had gained 14 paise to Rs. 45.12/13 against the U.S. dollar in the previous session.
Forex dealers said besides dollar demand from importers, gains made by the American currency against other rivals overseas put pressure on the rupee.
A weakening trend in the equity market for the third straight day on foreign fund outflows also influenced the trading sentiment.
The Bombay Stock Exchange benchmark Sensex fell by 89.96 points to 18,088.37 points in opening trade Thursday.
