Rupee rises 23 paise against US dollar to 53.70 |

Indian rupee gained against the greenback in morning trade on Thursday. Rupee was up by 23 paise or 0.44% against USD to Rs 53.70 compared to previous close of 53.94 (09.26 a.m.).
At 09.26 a.m., the Sensex was trading up 5.68 points or 0.03% at 18,715.70 with 17 components gaining. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading higher by 1.10 points or 0.02% at 5,692.50 with 31 components gaining.
In the spot market, the Dollar Index decreased 0.01% to 79.90 (23:46 ET).
Euro - USD was trading at 1.29 up 0.01% while USD - Japanese Yen was trading at 79.96 up 0.20% (23:57 ET).
