Rupee rises 16 paise against US dollar to 54.02 |

Indian rupee gained against the greenback in morning trade on Tuesday. Rupee was up by 15 paise or 0.29% against USD to Rs 54.02 compared to previous close of 54.18 (09.24 a.m.).
At 09.27 a.m., the Sensex was trading up 1.24 points or 0.01% at 18,637.06 with 14 components gaining. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading higher by 3.50 points or 0.06% at 5,669.10 with 25 components gaining.
In the spot market, the Dollar Index increased 0.01% to 80.23 (23:44 ET).
Euro - USD was trading at 1.29 up 0.03% while USD - Japanese Yen was trading at 79.81 up 0.01% (23:56 ET).
We expect Indian rupee to go weaker today as RBI after the finance minister's statement on Monday can go for a rate cut but not CRR cut, said Emkay Global Financial Services.
