Rupee opens lower at 61.26 per dollar |
Mumbai: The Indian rupee on Monday opened lower against the dollar compared with its previous close, tracking falls in other emerging market currencies.
At 9.10am, the domestic currency was trading at 61.26 per dollar, down 0.29% from its previous close of 61.08.
Asian currencies showed losing trend, as the China’s February exports fell 18.1% on a year-on-year basis, while Japan revised its fourth quarter annualized gross domestic product (GDP) growth to 1.55%, missing its estimates.
So far this year, the rupee has gained 0.8% against the dollar, while foreign institutional investors have pumped in $807.8 million in the local equity markets.
