Rupee marginally up against dollar in early trade |
Indian rupee gained against the greenback in morning trade on Wednesday. Rupee was marginally up by 3 paise or 0.16% against USD to Rs 54.24 compared to previous close of 54.27 (09.21 a.m.).
In the spot market, the Dollar Index increased 0.02% to 80.07 (22:42 ET).
Euro - USD was trading at 1.32 down 0.02% while USD - Japanese Yen was trading at 82.68 up 0.19% (22:49 ET).
''We expect Indian rupee to be stronger today as expected positive CPI data, industrial output data of India can show some buying in Indian rupee," said Emkay Global Financial Services.
At 09.23 a.m., the Sensex was trading up 57.62 points or 0.30% at 19,444.76 with 20 components gaining. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading higher by 18.85 points or 0.32% at 5,917.65 with 37 components gaining.
