Rupee marginally down against dollar in early trade |
Indian rupee declined against the greenback in morning trade on Monday. Rupee was marginally down by 5 paise or 0.09% against USD to Rs 54.53 compared to previous close of 54.48 (09.31 a.m.).
In the spot market, the Dollar Index increased 0.14% to 79.68 (22:50 ET).
Euro - USD was trading at 1.31 down 0.06% while USD - Japanese Yen was trading at 85.01 up 0.59% (22:59 ET).
``We expect Indian rupee to be stronger amid stronger Euro, also investors will be awaiting for the interest rate announcement tomorrow,`` said Emkay Global Financial Services.
At 09.33 a.m., the Sensex was trading up 10.89 points or 0.06% at 19,328.14 with 18 components gaining. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading lower by 1.80 points or 0.03% at 5,877.80 with 21 components falling.
