Rupee Loses 12 Paise Against US Dollar in Early Trade |
Mumbai: The Indian rupee fell by 12 paise to Rs 46.10 per US dollar in early trade Tuesday, extending its losses for the second straight session amid weakness of the euro and other Asian currencies against the greenback overseas and a lower opening in the equity market.
Forex dealers said strengthening of the US dollar against the euro and other Asian currencies and a weak opening in the domestic stock market mainly put pressure on the rupee.
The rupee had ended 19 paise lower at Rs 45.98/99 against the American currency in the previous session on fresh dollar buying by importers.
Meanwhile, the Bombay Stock Exchange benchmark Sensex fell by 97.45 points, or 0.58 percent, to 16,615.88 in opening trade Tuesday.
