Mumbai, Feb 3 (PTI) Fresh capital inflows and a smart recovery in equities helped the Indian rupee rise by another 25 paise today to close at nearly two-week high of 45.97/98 against the US dollar.
Forex dealers said, sustained selling of dollars by exporters as well as banks on the back of fall in US currency overseas amid expectations of fresh fund inflows saw the Indian currency strengthen against its major rivals.
At the Interbank Foreign Exchange (Forex) market, the Indian rupee moved in the range of 45.94 and 46.15 a dollar, before concluding the day at 45.97/98, the level not seen since January 20, 2010.
The Indian benchmark Sensex today surged by 332.61 points or 2.06 per cent on the back of firm global cues.
Meanwhile, global crude oil prices were trading above USD 77 a barrel in London today.
