Rupee hits fresh record low of 61.51 per dollar |

Mumbai: The Indian rupee hit a new low of 61.51 per dollar on Tuesday following cues from other Asian currencies, weakening past its previous record low of 61.21 hit on 8 July.
The dollar index was trading at 81.85, down 0.04% from its previous close.
At 10.05 am, the Indian currency was trading at 61.44 per dollar, down 0.92% from its previous close, while India’s equity benchmark Sensex was trading at 19,041.66 points, down 0.73%.
The partially convertible rupee had opened the session at 61.06 per dollar as compared with its Monday’s close of 60.88.
