Rupee Ggains 8 Paise Against U.S. Dollar In Early Trade |
The Indian rupee strengthened by 8 paise to Rs. 45 per dollar at the Interbank Foreign Exchange on Wednesday, supported by a higher opening in the stock market and dollar weakness against other Asian currencies.
The rupee had depreciated by 4 paise to close at Rs. 45.08/09 a dollar in the previous session due to sustained dollar demand from importers.
Forex dealers said dollar weakness against other Asian currencies and a higher opening in the stock market kept the rupee sentiment firm, but euro losses against the American currency limited the upside.
The Bombay Stock Exchange Sensex was up by 143.65 points, or 0.77 per cent, at 18,583.30 in opening trade Wednesday.
