Rupee Gains Against U.S. Dollar In Early Trade |
The Indian rupee strengthened by 7 paise to Rs. 44.33 per dollar in early trade on the Interbank Foreign Exchange on Tuesday, supported by dollar weakness against other major currencies overseas and a higher opening in the stock market.
The rupee had depreciated by 5 paise to close at Rs. 44.40/41 against the American currency in Monday’s trade on month-end dollar demand.
Forex dealers said dollar weakness against other major currency rivals overseas and a higher start in the stock market mainly supported the rupee’s rise against the US dollar.
The Bombay Stock Exchange Sensex was up by 73.31 points, or 0.38 per cent, at 18,944.60 in opening trade today.
