Rupee Gains 7 Paise Against U.S. Dollar In Early Trade |
The Indian rupee strengthened by 7 paise to Rs. 44.36 per dollar in early trade on the Interbank Foreign Exchange on Wednesday, supported by dollar weakness against other Asian currencies.
The rupee ended flat at Rs. 44.43/44 against the U.S. dollar in Tuesday’s volatile trade even as the U.S. currency rose in overseas markets amid weakness in domestic stock markets.
Forex dealers said dollar weakness against the euro and other Asian currencies overseas mainly supported the rupee’s rise on Wednesday against the American dollar.
Meanwhile, the Bombay Stock Exchange Sensex was down marginally by 19.00 points, or 0.10 per cent, at 18,725.56 in opening trade on Wednesday.
