Rupee gains 4 paise against US dollar to 54.51 |

Indian rupee gained against the greenback in morning trade on Thursday. Rupee was marginally up by 4 paise or 0.08% against USD to Rs 54.51 compared to previous close of 54.55 (09.25 a.m.).
In the spot market, the Dollar Index increased 0.18% to 79.92 (22:44 ET).
Euro - USD was trading at 1.30 down 0.11% while USD - Japanese Yen was trading at 82.53 up 0.06% (22:53 ET).
"We expect Indian rupee to go stronger today as approval of FDI in retail can strengthen the rupee," said Emkay Global Financial Services.
At 09.27 a.m., the Sensex was trading down 50.46 points or 0.26% at 19,341.40 with 21 components falling. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading lower by 17.10 points or 0.29% at 5,883.40 with 38 components falling.
