Rupee gains 3 paise against US dollar to 53.82 |

Indian rupee gained against the greenback in morning trade on Thursday. Rupee was marginally up by 3 paise or 0.06% against USD to Rs 53.82 compared to previous close of 53.85 (09.23 a.m.).
At 09.22 a.m., the Sensex was trading down 36.38 points or 0.20% at 18,469.00 with 13 components falling. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading lower by 11.25 points or 0.20% at 5,608.45 with 20 components falling.
In the spot market, the Dollar Index increased 0.04% to 79.95 (23:44 ET).
Euro - USD was trading at 1.29 up 0.05% while USD - Japanese Yen was trading at 80.08 up 0.39% (23:53 ET).
We expect Indian rupee to be strong today on positive fiscal deficit numbers on Wednesday and firm Euro can push the dollar further down after a small jump, said Emkay Global Financial Services.
