Rupee Gains 28 Paise Against U.S. Dollar In Early Trade |
The Indian rupee rose by 28 paise to Rs. 49.17 per U.S. dollar in early trade on the Interbank Foreign Exchange Tuesday, supported by euro gains against the American currency and a rebound in the domestic stock market.
Dealers said dollar weakness against the euro and other currencies overseas and gains recorded by domestic bourses in early trade assisted the rupee’s rise.
The rupee had ended 2 paise lower at Rs. 49.45/46 against the U.S. dollar in the previous session due to strong dollar demand from importers amid weak stock markets.
Meanwhile, the Bombay Stock Exchange Sensex recovered by 304.92 points, or 1.89 per cent, to 16,356.02 in opening trade Tuesday.
