Rupee gains 19 paise against US dollar to 53.9 |
Indian rupee gained against the greenback in morning trade on Wednesday. Rupee was up by 19 paise or 0.35% against USD to Rs 53.90 compared to previous close of 54.09 (09.13 a.m.).
''USDINR could trade sideways to higher towards 54.22 followed by 54.35 levels in near future. Corrective declines could be limited to 54 levels. A close below 54 can attract more selloffs.
Rupee is expected to be weaker after Bernanke’s statement on strongly supporting the stimulus program made dollar stronger,'' said Emkay Global Financial Services.
In the spot market, the Dollar Index increased 0.05% to 81.82 (22:38 ET).
Euro - USD was trading at 1.30 up 0.05% while USD - Japanese Yen was trading at 91.88 down 0.11% (22:42 ET).
At 09.19 a.m., the Sensex was trading up 79.13 points or 0.42% at 19,094.27 with 21 components gaining. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading higher by 17.55 points or 0.30% at 5,778.90 with 37 components gaining.
