Rupee gains 10 paise against dollar in early trade |
The Indian rupee appreciated by 10 paise to Rs 46.79 a dollar in early trade on the Interbank Foreign Exchange today, supported by fresh capital inflows into equity market by foreign funds.
The Indian rupee had lost 5 paise to Rs 46.89/90 against the US dollar in the previous session on Friday due to dollar’s demand from importers and weak stock markets.
Forex dealers said fresh capital inflow into equities by foreign funds provided support to the rupee but the dollar’s gains against other currencies, capped gains.
Meanwhile, the Bombay Stock Exchange index, Sensex rose by 218.09 points to 18,216.50 in the opening trade today.
