Rupee falls 6 paise against US dollar to 54.53 |
Indian rupee declined against the greenback in morning trade on Friday. Rupee was down by 7 paise or 0.12% against USD to Rs 54.53 compared to previous close of 54.46 (09.23 a.m.).
In the spot market, the Dollar Index decreased 0.02% to 79.91 (22:44 ET).
Euro - USD was trading at 1.30 up 0.08% while USD - Japanese Yen was trading at 83.91 up 0.31% (22:54 ET).
"Slide in domestic stock market created some pressure on INR; investors are also eyeing inflation data today. We expect Indian rupee to weaken today as positive inflation numbers are expected which can increase the hope of rate cuts," said Emkay Global Financial Services.
At 09.25 a.m., the Sensex was trading up 12.34 points or 0.06% at 19,241.60 with 21 components gaining. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading higher by 3.80 points or 0.06% at 5,855.30 with 36 components gaining.
