Rupee falls 30 paise against US dollar to 54.36 |
Indian rupee declined against the greenback in morning trade on Thursday. Rupee was down by 30 paise or 0.54% against USD to Rs 54.36 compared to previous close of 54.06 (09.21 a.m.).
''USDINR settled on positive note at 54.22 on Friday, leaving room for additional gains with the price objective of 54.50 levels in near future. Any short term declines could be limited to 54.10 levels. Rupee is expected to weaken further as stronger dollar internationally against majority of currencies can keep the prices intact. However, buying from foreign funds can limit the upside,'' said Emkay Global Financial Services.
In the spot market, the Dollar Index increased 0.09% to 81.14 (22:46 ET).
Euro - USD was trading at 1.32 down 0.16% while USD - Japanese Yen was trading at 93.39 down 0.19% (22:53 ET).
At 9.26 a.m, the Sensex was trading down 109.46 points or 0.56% at 19,533.29 with 26 components falling. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading lower by 32.95 points or 0.55% at 5,910.10 with 45 components falling.
