Rupee falls 3 paise against US dollar to 54.89 |

Indian rupee declined against the greenback in morning trade on Tuesday. Rupee was down by 3 paise or 0.07% against USD to Rs 54.89 compared to previous close of 54.85 (09.24 a.m.).
In the spot market, the Dollar Index decreased 0.01% to 80.86 (22:44 ET).
Euro - USD was trading at 1.28 down 0.06% while USD - Japanese Yen was trading at 81.27 down 0.18% (22:05 ET).
''USDINR trend remains firm till price manages to trade above 54.88 levels, where 9-Day EMA falls. Any intraday declines could hold at 54.90-54.88 and rise towards 55.20 levels,'' said Emkay Global Financial Services.
At 09.25 a.m., the Sensex was trading up 86.23 points or 0.47% at 18,425.23 with 25 components gaining. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading higher by 27.30 points or 0.49% at 5,598.70 with 38 components gaining.
