Rupee falls 24 paise against US dollar to 55 |

Indian rupee declined against the greenback in morning trade on Friday. Rupee was down by 24 paise or 0.43% against USD to Rs 55 compared to previous close of 54.85 (09.24 a.m.).
Indian rupee seems to be weakening further as dollar internationally looks stronger against majority of the currencies, said Emkay Global Financial Services.
In the spot market, the Dollar Index increased 0.17% to 79.39 (22:44 ET).
Euro - USD was trading at 1.31 down 0.17% while USD - Japanese Yen was trading at 83.95 down 0.52% (22:53 ET).
At 09.25 a.m., the Sensex was trading down 108.54 points or 0.56% at 19,345.38 with 26 components falling. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading lower by 38.40 points or 0.65% at 5,878 with 48 components falling.
