Rupee falls 18 paise against US dollar to 54.55 |

Indian rupee declined against the greenback in morning trade on Friday. Rupee was down by 18 paise or 0.36% against USD to Rs 54.55 compared to previous close of 54.36 (09.20 a.m.).
''USDINR has witnessed selling interest from the beginning of the trading session and made a low of 53.61 levels, since February 11 and finally settled weak at 53.87. For the day we are expecting market to extend its declines to 53.54 initial and a close below that can attract more declines towards 53.10 levels. Rupee is expected to fall further as effect of Budget yesterday will still be seen on the markets,'' said Emkay Global Financial Services.
In the spot market, the Dollar Index decreased 0.07% to 81.88 (22:45 ET).
Euro - USD was trading at 1.30 up 0.15% while USD - Japanese Yen was trading at 92.69 up 0.14% (22:52 ET).
At 09.27 a.m., the Sensex was trading up 39.73 points or 0.21% at 18,901.27 with 14 components gaining. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading higher by 11.15 points or 0.20% at 5,704.20 with 22 components gaining.
