Rupee falls 18 paise against US dollar to 54.73 |

Indian rupee declined against the greenback in morning trade on Thursday. Rupee was down by 18 paise or 0.33% against USD to Rs 54.73 compared to previous close of 54.55 (09.22 a.m.).
Emkay Global Financial Services expect Indian rupee to be weaker today as dollar went stronger internationally and dollar buying from oil firms due to year end demand can weaken the rupee.
In the spot market, the Dollar Index increased 0.09% to 79.33 (22:42 ET).
Euro - USD was trading at 1.32 down 0.02% while USD - Japanese Yen was trading at 82.24 down 0.20% (22:52 ET).
At 9.24 a.m, the Sensex was trading down 12.21 points or 0.06% at 19,463.79 with 12 components falling. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading lower by 5.50 points or 0.09% at 5,924.10 with 25 components falling.
