Rupee Down By 2 Paise Against US Dollar |

The Indian rupee fell by 2 paise to Rs 44.47 against the US dollar in early trade on the Interbank Foreign Exchange on Thursday, largely pressured by a lower opening in the stock market.
Forex dealers said the lower opening in the stock market this morning mainly put pressure on the rupee vis-a-vis the dollar, but a firm euro against the American currency overseas ahead of an emergency euro zone meeting due later in the day capped the losses.
The rupee gained 4 paise to close above a one-week high at Rs 44.45/44.46 per US dollar in yesterday's trade due to dollar weakness overseas.
Meanwhile, the Bombay Stock Exchange benchmark Sensex fell by 55.41 points, or 0.30 per cent, to 18,446.97 in opening trade on Thursday.
