Rupee Down 9 Paise Against U.S. Dollar in Early Trade |
The Indian rupee weakened by nine paise to Rs 44.56 against the U.S. dollar in early trade on the Interbank Foreign Exchange today, in line with weakness in other Asian currencies overseas.
The rupee closed 4 paise higher in the previous session at Rs. 44.47/48 against the U.S. currency on mild dollar selling by exporters.
Forex dealers said weakness in other Asian currencies against the dollar overseas mainly put pressure on the rupee sentiment, but a higher opening in the stock market capped the losses.
Meanwhile, the Bombay Stock Exchange benchmark Sensex recovered by 51 points to 18,520.36 this morning.
