Rupee climbs 23 paise against US dollar to 52.96 |
Indian rupee gained against the greenback in morning trade on Monday. Rupee was up by 23 paise or 0.43% against USD to Rs 52.96 compared to previous close of 53.19 (09.24 a.m.).
''Trend remains weak in spot USDINR, till price manages to trade below 200-Day EMA of 54.10 levels, targeting 52.80 levels in near term. Only a convincing close above 54.15 can change our bias. The rupee is still appearing strong with chances of consolidation of gains in lower levels,'' said Emkay Global Financial Services.
In the spot market, the Dollar Index increased 0.15% to 79.24 (22:45 ET).
Euro - USD was trading at 1.36 down 0.05% while USD - Japanese Yen was trading at 92.61 down 0.17% (22:49 ET).
At 09.26 a.m, the Sensex was trading up 81.82 points or 0.41% at 19,863.01 with 24 components gaining. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading higher by 28.75 points or 0.48% at 6,027.65 with 39 components gaining.
