Indian rupee up 22 paise vs dollar in early trade |
The rupee today appreciated by 22 paise to 60.88 against the dollar in early trade at the Interbank Foreign Exchange, mainly due to dollar selling by exporters.
A higher opening in the domestic equity market and a weak dollar against other overseas currencies also supported the gain in rupee, forex dealers said. The rupee had dipped by a massive 67 paise to an all-time closing low of 61.10 against the dollar on Friday.
Meanwhile, the BSE benchmark index Sensex recovered by 41.67 points, or 0.22 per cent, to 19,205.69 in early trade today.
