Indian rupee opens flat at 62.98 per dollar |
The Indian rupee opened flat at 62.98 per dollar on Monday against Friday's closing value of 62.97 a dollar.
The euro sank to a fresh 12-year low after a recent bounce as investors were still very bearish on the common currency. Persistent weakness in the euro helped the dollar index stretch to a 12-year high of 100.42.
NS Venkatesh of IDBI Bank said, "The rupee is expected to extend Friday's weakness today as well. The rupee will take cues from the dollar strengthening against emerging market currency pairs and WPI inflation data coming today. The rupee is expected to trade weak in the range of 62.90-63.15/dollar."
