India Forex Reserves $312.707 Billion Sept 23; Down $4.06 Billion On Week |
MUMBAI -(Dow Jones)- India's foreign exchange reserves fell by $4.06 billion to $312.707 billion in the week ended Sept. 23, central bank data showed Friday.
The Reserve Bank of India's weekly statistical supplement showed reserves fell due mainly to a decline of $3.97 billion in the bank's foreign currency assets.
The RBI's reserve position with the International Monetary Fund stood at $2.96 billion.
The RBI doesn't provide a reason for the changes in foreign currency assets, but says that the assets expressed in dollar terms capture fluctuations in the value of non-U.S. currencies--such as the euro, sterling and yen--held in reserves.
