Subject: Who was R. B. Choudary? Veteran producer dies in a car accident. His one last wish involving Tamil N
Veteran film producer R. B. Choudary died in a tragic car accident near Udaipur on Tuesday, May 5, leaving the South Indian film industry in shock. Known for founding Super Good Films, he was a key figure behind several successful Tamil and Telugu films. His body is expected to be brought to Chennai on Wednesday for the final rites. The sudden accident has triggered an outpouring of grief from actors, filmmakers and fans, many of whom remembered his lasting contribution to Indian cinema.

R.B. Choudary’s banner, Super Good Films, played a crucial role in shaping multiple careers across industries. Over the years, he built a reputation for backing stories that resonated with family audiences, often combining emotional depth with strong music and commercial appeal.

Actor Pawan Kalyan expressed deep shock at the news of his demise. In a message shared on X, he said he was stunned to learn about the fatal accident and found it hard to believe that the veteran producer was no more. Recalling their collaboration on Suswagatham, Pawan Kalyan credited Choudary for his strong understanding of storytelling and production. He also noted that the producer had a unique ability to choose subjects that connected with families, often highlighting emotional bonds in his films. He extended his condolences to the bereaved family and prayed for Choudary’s soul.

Superstar Rajinikanth also paid tribute, describing Choudary as not just a top producer but also a kind-hearted person. In his note, Rajinikanth said Choudary had supported many young directors and contributed significantly to keeping the industry vibrant. He added that the news of his sudden death left him deeply saddened and in shock.

Born into a Rajasthani family, RB Choudary did not begin his career in films. He initially worked in sectors such as steel, exports and jewellery before eventually stepping into cinema through the Malayalam film industry. After producing a few projects there, he entered Tamil cinema in 1989.

He went on to establish Super Good Films, a name that came into being after he parted ways with his former associate R Mohan. Borrowing the word “Good” from their earlier association, he built a brand that would go on to deliver several blockbuster hits.

R. B. Choudary built an impressive filmography over the years, backing several memorable hits such as Cheran Pandian, Nattamai, Poove Unakkaga, Suryavamsam, Thullatha Manamum Thullum, Aanandham, Jilla and Godfather. Known for producing films that connected strongly with family audiences, he remained active in cinema until recently. His last project was Maareesan, featuring Vadivelu and Fahadh Faasil. For the unversed, Poove Unakkaga is considered a major breakthrough in Vijay's career, running over 270 days in theatres.

Choudary is survived by his wife, Mahjabeen and their four sons, including actors Jiiva and Jithan Ramesh.

For years, R.B Choudary had been planning a milestone 100th film under his banner Super Good Films with Vijay in the lead. According to several reports, his son Jiiva had first hinted at the collaboration in 2018 and later confirmed in 2022 that the project was still on track. Reports also suggested that Choudary had met Vijay to discuss the film. However, with the producer’s sudden demise and Vijay stepping away from films to focus on politics, the long-awaited project will now remain unfinished.
