Subject: India’s electronics exports hit Rs 4 lakh crore in 2025: IT Minister Vaishnaw
India’s electronics exports crossed the Rs 4 lakh crore mark in 2025 and are expected to grow further as four semiconductor manufacturing plants begin commercial production this year, Union Electronics and IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said on Tuesday.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Vaishnaw said the surge in exports has created jobs and boosted foreign exchange earnings. “Electronics exports crossed Rs 4 lakh crore in 2025, creating jobs and bringing foreign exchange. Momentum will continue in 2026 as four semiconductor plants come into commercial production,” he said.

According to official estimates, electronics production stood at around Rs 11.3 lakh crore in 2024-25, while exports were valued at about Rs 3.3 lakh crore. The sector currently employs more than 25 lakh people, industry estimates show, with mobile phones accounting for the bulk of electronics manufacturing in the country.

The minister also shared a report highlighting that iPhone exports from India reached Rs 2.03 lakh crore in 2025, nearly double the Rs 1.1 lakh crore recorded in calendar year 2024.

PTI in a report stated that industry body India Cellular and Electronics Association (ICEA) expects mobile phone production in India to touch $75 billion by the end of the current financial year, including exports of over $30 billion, or roughly Rs 2.7 lakh crore.

Mobile phone production in the country stood at Rs 5.5 lakh crore in 2024–25, with exports from the segment estimated at around Rs 2 lakh crore.

According to IDC’s Worldwide Quarterly Mobile Phone Tracker for the September quarter of 2025, Apple recorded its highest-ever domestic shipments in a quarter, supplying 50 lakh iPhones in India. Apple also led the premium and super-premium smartphone segments, driving overall market growth during the quarter.
