Subject: Process to establish DGFT office in Belagavi begins
BELAGAVI: The process has begun to establish the office of Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) in Belagavi by the union ministry of commerce and industry, which will help entrepreneurs to export their produces to foreign countries.

Niramala Sitharaman, union minister of commerce and industries had assured of establishing DGFT office in Belagavi, during her recent visit to city. It will be the second DGFT office in the state after Bengaluru, which help entrepreneurs of North-Karnataka and Hyderabad Karnataka in exporting produces to abroad.

The DGFT office in Belagavi will be the 37th regional office in the country. Delegation of senior officers headed by Kumarmangal, deputy director of DGFT, Bengaluru office inspected different locations in Belagavi and finalised DIC Exhibition Centre at Auto Nagar to open the office. Apart from promoting foreign trade, DGFT office will also carry skill-training programmes to the youths.

An office will really help entrepreneurs of North-Karnataka, who used to approach Bengaluru earlier for export related registrations. DGFT has to give certification within three days after producing proper documenters but most of the times it was going to delay costing money and time of entrepreneurs of North-Karnataka region. Earlier, entrepreneurs used to approach DGFT through a particular agency, now they could approach directly to get done their work, said Basavaraj Javali, former president of Belagavi Chamber of Commerce and Industries. According to Javali, foundry castings, machine components and alumina powder is exported to other countries from Belagavi on regular bases while Vijaypura district is leading in exporting agriculture products like grapes, pomegranate and other food products, he said.

"I express my gratitude to the minister Nirmala Sitaraman who had promised of establishing DGFT office in Belagavi during her visit to city to take part in Tiranga Yatra and within two weeks time the officials' team of her ministry visited city and finalised the place for the office establishment. It's an instance how speed the works are taking place in the country under strong leadership of prime minister Narendra Modi", MP Suresh Angadi said.

Directorate Ganeral of Foreign Trade is the office attached with ministry of commerce and industry and headed by director general of foreign trade. DGFT plays a role of 'facilitator' to the entrepreneurs and promote export. DGFT issues authorization to exporters to export their produces and monitors their corresponding obligations through its regional offices.
