INDIA: Garment exports continued to rise in November |
Garment exports from India continued to increase in November, representing the eighth consecutive month of growth, according to new figures.
Data from the country's Apparel Export Promotion Council (AEPC) shows garment exports reached US$1.05bn during the month - up 21.3% year-on-year.
During the period between April and November, exports rose 16.2%.
"Our constant endeavour to work on the technology upgradation, skilling, innovation in terms of product and design along with the stringent compliance practices has yielded this kind of growth," said AEPC chairman Dr A Sakthivel.
Industry executives last month told just-style that Indian garment exports are on the rise as the world's buyers divert orders from China and Bangladesh. The decline in value of the Indian rupee has also helped Indian exporters.
