Gurgaon apparel exporters to benefit under new tag |
Apparel exporters in Gurgaon town, which neighbours India’s capital city of New Delhi, would benefit as the town has been added in the list of ‘Towns of Export Excellence’ (TEE), according to industry analysts. Annual Supplement (2013-14) to the Foreign Trade Policy (2009-14) announced by Commerce Minister Anand Sharma in April last year mentioned that the town of Gurgaon in Haryana state has been added to the existing list of towns of export excellence for apparel exports. As a result, apparel exporters from the town shall be eligible to get benefit under Assistance to States for Development of Export Infrastructure and Allied Activities (ASIDE) scheme. The Ministry of Commerce’s decision to include Gurgaon in the list of towns of export excellence would help garment exporters to achieve sustainable growth, as the registered export units can take advantage of Export Promotion Council Goods (EPCG) and other schemes, opine analysts. Moreover, recognized apparel associations in the town shall have access to funds under the Market Access Initiative scheme for improving focused technological services, experts aver.
