Government lifts restriction on wood charcoal exports to Bhutan |
NEW DELHI: The government has lifted the restriction on exporting wood charcoal to Bhutan so as to help domestic industries of the land-locked nation.
"There will be no prohibition on export of wood charcoal to Bhutan," Director General of Foreign Trade ( DGFT) said in a notification.
An official said that several industries in Bhutan are dependent on wood charcoal.
"Considering India's bilateral relations with that country, the government has decided to lift the restriction," the official added.
In 2012-13, India's exports to Bhutan stood at $233.22 million and imports were $164 million.
