The Cotton Textiles Export Promotion Council (TEXPROCIL) will be releasing a Benchmarking Study of Production Costs in India vis-à-vis Bangladesh, China, Egypt, Indonesia, Pakistan and Turkey at a function to be held at Hotel Le Meridien in New Delhi on 25.7.2013.
The study will be released by Dr. Kavuru Sambasiva Rao, Hon'ble Union Minister of Textiles, and Government of India. The function which will be presided by the Secretary  (Textiles),  Ms. Zohra Chatterjee  will also be attended by  top officials from the Ministry of Textiles, Ministry of Finance  and the Ministry of Commerce & Industry including the DGFT, Dr.Anup.K.Pujari .

At TEXPROCIL we strongly believe that Indian textile industry has attained Global competitiveness, said Shri Manikam Ramaswami, Chairman TEXPROCIL. It is in this context that TEXPROCIL took the initiative of carrying out a Study on production costs in India as compared to its major competitors.

The study consists of detailed analysis of the impact of various cost factors like wages, power costs, water charges, transport costs, exchange rates etc on the competitiveness of textiles in India as well as in other competing countries like China, Turkey, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Indonesia and Egypt. The study also outlines the support given by the competing countries to promote textiles exports.

The Study will be useful to the exporting community and will certainly be instrumental in creating a road map for increasing textiles exports from India and in building confidence among the lenders and investors besides providing valuable inputs for the formulation of the next Textiles Policy, according to the Chairman, TEXPROCIL.
