The Forum, which will focus on all aspects of Oman's economic vision will feature many topics of discussion including; including the Government's five-year economic plan, developing infrastructure, financing requirements and the role of banks and financial markets, the future of industrial sector, special economic zones in Oman, investment opportunities in the alternative & renewable energy sector and needed regulations and incentives in this regard and the general investment environment in Oman.
This year's Oman Economic Forum is organized by Al-Iktissad Wal-Aamal Group and The Ministry of Trade and Industry in cooperation with the Capital Market Authority and the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
The first Oman Economic Forum held in 2008 brought together more than 600 participants from 17 Arab countries representing major banking and financial institutions, as well as companies active in industry, oil and gas, tourism and real estate sectors of the Arab world; and served as a major boost to foreign investors in Oman.
Walid Abou Zaki, Executive Director of Al-Iktissad Wal-Aamal Group, the Forum's primary organizers, commented; "Following the success of the 2008 Oman Economic Forum, I am pleased to present the 2010 event. In addition to the Arab nations that attended last year, this week's event will also be attended by countries such as Germany, France, India , Singapore , Korea, Bulgaria, Turkey and almost all Arab countries, and as a result I expect this year's event to surpass the success of the 2008 Forum. I am looking forward to two days of fruitful discussion which will include the legislative, economic and financial aspects of the corporate and investment environment which will showcase to the world incentives and exemptions available to investors thereby boosting foreign investment in the Sultanate."
The international event will be held under the patronage of H.E. Ahmed Bin Abdulnabi Macki, Minister of National Economy and Deputy Chairman of the Financial Affairs and Energy Resources, who will speak at the Forum and interact with the attendees in a discussion panel.
Additional speakers at will include H.E Maqbool Bin Ali Bin Sultan, Minister of Commerce and Industry; Sheikh Al Fadel Bin Mohammad Al-Harthy, Undersecretary of the Ministry of National Economy for Development Affairs; Hamood Bin Sangour Al-Zadjali, Executive President of Central Bank of Oman; Dr. Henry Azzam, CEO of Middle East & North Africa Deutsche Bank; Yahya Bin Said Al-Jabri, Executive President of Capital Market Authority; Salaam Said Salim Al Shaksy, CEO of NBO; Gary Sigel, a Partner at Southern Energy Partners; John Cunneen, the executive director of the electricity regulation authority , George Sarraf , partner in Booz & co., Philip Stanton, Managing Partner at Ernst & Young and another 20 panelists and speakers.
